More than a decade ago there were plans to release a box set through my former label CrossCut Records, now part of Bear Family. The idea was to package a DVD of the 2002 live recordings with Sonny Landreth and my trio for the live double CD “In Concert”, an unreleased blues album and one album with unreleased material from the early 1990s to the mid 2000s. We all know what happened to the music business in the meantime. It just does not make sense any longer to release hard copies with lavishly designed books and whatnot.
A decision was made to scale down and split up the box set release. The DVD with the concert footage got scrapped. The “long lost” blues album GET A MOVE ON was released on digitally on bandcamp and on limited edition CD in 2025 exclusively through our online store. And now it is time to release the archive album: Record Volume One features 18 previously unreleased tracks from the years 1991 – 2004 with a total playing time of over 64 minutes.
On it you will find live tracks with the fabulous rhythm section of Michel Poffet on upright bass and Christoph Beck on drums. There are live recordings with Sonny Landreth and Schifer Schafer on guitar, radio broadcasts, field recordings, demos and outtakes from my first two albums “Low Budget” and “Walk”. Also included in both digital and CD formats is an online booklet with detailed credits and liner notes for each track.

Mehr als zehn Jahre lag gab es Pläne für ein Boxset für meine frühere Plattenfirma CrossCut Records, heute Teil von Bear Family. Die Idee war, eine DVD mit Konzertaufnahmen mit Sonny Landreth und meinem Trio aus dem Jahr 2002 für die Live-Doppel-CD “In Concert” mit einem unveröffentlichten Bluesalbum und unveröffentlichtem Material von den frühen 1990ern bis Mitte der 2000er Jahre zu kombinieren. Wir alle wissen, was seither mit dem Musikgeschäft geschehen ist. Es macht keinen Sinn mehr, CDs, DVDs und aufwändig gestaltete Bücher in schönen Schubern zu veröffentlichen.
So entschieden wir uns, das Boxset aufzuteilen. Eine DVD wird es nicht geben. Das “verschollene” Bluesalbum GET A MOVE ON wurde 2025 digital auf bandcamp und als limitierte CD exklusiv via unseren Webshop veröffentlicht. Und jetzt ist die Zeit reif für das Archivalbum: Record Volume One bietet 18 bisher unveröffentlichte Tracks aus den Jahren 1991 bis 2004 mit einer Spielzeit von mehr als 64 Minuten.
Darauf zu entdecken gibt es Liveaufnahmen mit der grossartigen Rhythm Section von Michel Poffet am Kontrabass und Christoph Beck am Schlagzeug. Ebenso gibt es Liveaufnahmen mit den Gitarristen Sonny Landreth und Schifer Schafer, Radiosendungen, Field Recordings, Demos und Outtakes meiner ersten zwei Alben “Low Budget” und “Walk”.
